I’ve been realising lately how regularly I set out with a particular goal in mind (be it surf or photography or otherwise), only to be thwarted by circumstances, where that goal does not eventuate in the way I had hoped. Only to realise that the failed pursuit has led me elsewhere, oftentimes to something far better! This photo for instance, was taken on a surf trip where the beach we wanted to surf was churned up by an unexpected wind change, forcing us to explore other options. Alternatives that we would otherwise have never entertained. What we stumbled upon was one of the most secluded, pristine beaches we had ever seen, literally not another human in sight, and blue barrels funnelling all over the place. It was a beautiful reminder to never let expectations rule the mind-quanta, and to allow more often the energies of the universe to guide me.
All images are printed on the highest grade fine art materials available. I’ve chosen ILFORD Gold Fibre Gloss as my go to cotton paper, and for canvas the top of the line ILFORD Galicia. All canvas prints are sealed for protection and longevity. Both mediums are museum grade, and will last a lifetime (and longer). Using a local, Geelong based fine art print lab (www.aeternalab.com), their knowledge and expertise combines with the large format Epson fine art printer, not to mention the top of the line Epson Ultrachrome inks that produce stunningly accurate and vibrant fine art prints.
