Onomatopoeia is described as ‘The formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named.’ Examples are words such as ‘sizzle’ and ‘splash’. I wonder if the same idea can be applied to an image that evokes a sense of the roaring sound and immensity at but a glance. I had to work hard to shoot this image, sprinting across the water to get myself out of the way of this giant specimen as it detonated before me. It was close to squashing me, but I was able to dart just quickly enough to be able to turn and fire a shot as the vortex delivered itself frighteningly onto the shallow reef in Victoria’s deep south west.
All images are printed on the highest grade fine art materials available. I’ve chosen ILFORD Gold Fibre Gloss as my go to cotton paper, and for canvas the top of the line ILFORD Galicia. All canvas prints are sealed for protection and longevity. Both mediums are museum grade, and will last a lifetime (and longer). Using a local, Geelong based fine art print lab (www.aeternalab.com), their knowledge and expertise combines with the large format Epson fine art printer, not to mention the top of the line Epson Ultrachrome inks that produce stunningly accurate and vibrant fine art prints.
