As an oceanic/surf photographer, it’s easy to fall into the trap of wanting to shoot the waves only when they’re big, perfect and ridable. But I’ve lately found myself becoming addicted to chasing smaller waves, and when I say smaller - I mean tiny. Entirely unridable. There are delightful details and subtleties that emerge when squatting or lying in the shallows, with waves that you could comfortably step over lapping onto the sand. This particular feisty little specimen for example, was shot whilst kneeling at the shoreline, at the walkway inside the Bluff of Barwon Heads, on a glorious windless December morning. I came home with significant ‘sand burn’ on my knees and elbows, but very happy with my bounty!
All images are printed on the highest grade fine art materials available. I’ve chosen ILFORD Gold Fibre Gloss as my go to cotton paper, and for canvas the top of the line ILFORD Galicia. All canvas prints are sealed for protection and longevity. Both mediums are museum grade, and will last a lifetime (and longer). Using a local, Geelong based fine art print lab (www.aeternalab.com), their knowledge and expertise combines with the large format Epson fine art printer, not to mention the top of the line Epson Ultrachrome inks that produce stunningly accurate and vibrant fine art prints.
