The world had gone dark around me. A squall of such violence that rain stung the face, and ice in the wind made the frigid Southern Ocean seem warm in comparison. Unsure of how long it was going to last, I bobbed in the ocean with next to no visibility, wondering whether to head back to the sand or to hold my position, facing away from the needling torrent until it moved passed out to sea. I decided to wait. Then almost as suddenly as it had swept into the region, the storm had shifted beyond, light began to reveal the scene around me, backed now by that crawling darkness. I could see the incoming swells again, and a convergence of two waves rose up before me in mighty form like some shadowy-green apparition, allowing me to shoot this image, and secretly congratulate myself for the conviction to hold my position throughout it all.
All images are printed on the highest grade fine art materials available. I’ve chosen ILFORD Gold Fibre Gloss as my go to cotton paper, and for canvas the top of the line ILFORD Galicia. All canvas prints are sealed for protection and longevity. Both mediums are museum grade, and will last a lifetime (and longer). Using a local, Geelong based fine art print lab (www.aeternalab.com), their knowledge and expertise combines with the large format Epson fine art printer, not to mention the top of the line Epson Ultrachrome inks that produce stunningly accurate and vibrant fine art prints.
