4/5 ‘Middle Earth’ prints remaining.
This image is, I think, quite a unique perspective of a location that not many people would ever see. It’s a long paddle into a treacherous sea, in the cold and wilds of Victoria’s south west coastline. There is a lovely contrast with the smooth surface of the early morning swell, lifting up the blues as it rises, whilst the sun almost peaks from low in the east, giving a faded, softly warm tone to the immense cliffs towering in the backdrop. It gives almost the sense of an oceanic arena, and I felt very small and insignificant swimming beneath both the waves and those giant coastal edifices. It felt like shooting surf along some ancient Middle Earthen coastline. Not long after I shot this particular photo, a wave hit me whilst shooting, from a direction I wasn’t expecting, and ripped my camera out of my hand, washing my setup towards the rocks closer to shore. I managed to retrieve it safely, and made it to land with another reminder to always be aware of my surroundings when in the sea.
All prints in this collection are limited to no more than 5 individual editions, each will be delivered personally signed and numbered. Printed by the ever meticulous fine art laboratory, Aeterna, Framed locally using handmade and sustainable timbers. All paper prints are framed behind non-reflective UV glass, and encased in foam core matte, personally selected to enhance each image for a stunning final look, ready to hang on your wall. Canvas prints are finished in beautiful and timeless float frames, after having been sealed to ensure quality and longevity, so that your print will last comfortably for at least several lifetimes.
The paper of choice for these editions is Hahnemüle Bamboo, the world’s first fine art inkjet paper made from 90% bamboo fibres. Environmentally friendly and sustainable, this paper has a soft, lightly textured felt structure and sensual feel. Bamboo is acid and lignin-free, and meets the most precise requirements in terms of age resistance.
For canvas I’ve chosen Ilford Fine Art Galicia, a cotton/polyester blend, designed to deliver the best in photographic digital prints. It is a robust stretchable canvas with an excellent colour gamut and a high resistance to cracking, whilst also boasting superior framing performance.
