I’ll admit with my ocean photography, I’m very often drawn towards wild, epic, awe-inducing chaos. But shooting from the water occasionally allows for finding magical, subtle moments too. Like here in this image. Though the wave itself fills the frame, I find myself drawn to the the delicate glistening light, emanating and refracting from the tiny bends and shapes emerging in the wave face as it feels its way along this shallow reef. These moments are more often than not extremely short lived, as the sun will either rise and quickly become overpowering, or set and disappear all together, as it did minutes after I took this photo. I have come to treasure the subtle happenings as much as the chaos, as difficult as they may be to find.

The paper of choice for these editions is Hahnemüle Bamboo, the world’s first fine art inkjet paper made from 90% bamboo fibres. Environmentally friendly and sustainable, this paper has a soft, lightly textured felt structure and sensual feel. Bamboo is acid and lignin-free, and meets the most precise requirements in terms of age resistance.
For canvas I’ve chosen Ilford Fine Art Galicia, a cotton/polyester blend, designed to deliver the best in photographic digital prints. It is a robust stretchable canvas with an excellent colour gamut and a high resistance to cracking, whilst also boasting superior framing performance.
