Coalesce was shot during a memorable trip to Bicheno on Tasmania’s magnificent east coast. This particular spot is out the back of a small island, and to access it, myself and one friend had to paddle to the island, traverse it, then jump into the sea beyond it. The blue sky and glorious colours are deceptive, as this day was absolutely freezing, and we were already shivering as we climbed into wet, cold wetsuits before making the journey out. The reef is notoriously shallow and treacherous, and of the few surfers who have attempted to surf here, many have returned to land with serious injuries. We were able to sit in the deep water beside it, and spent a couple of frigid hours shooting the spectacular shapes that erupted into the morning sun, yelling with excitement and astonishment as wave after wave marched in from the Tasman Sea.
All prints in this collection are limited to no more than 5 individual editions, each will be delivered personally signed and numbered. Printed by the ever meticulous fine art laboratory, Aeterna, Framed locally using handmade and sustainable timbers. All paper prints are framed behind non-reflective UV glass, and encased in foam core matte, personally selected to enhance each image for a stunning final look, ready to hang on your wall. Canvas prints are finished in beautiful and timeless float frames, after having been sealed to ensure quality and longevity, so that your print will last comfortably for at least several lifetimes.
The paper of choice for these editions is Hahnemüle Bamboo, the world’s first fine art inkjet paper made from 90% bamboo fibres. Environmentally friendly and sustainable, this paper has a soft, lightly textured felt structure and sensual feel. Bamboo is acid and lignin-free, and meets the most precise requirements in terms of age resistance.
For canvas I’ve chosen Ilford Fine Art Galicia, a cotton/polyester blend, designed to deliver the best in photographic digital prints. It is a robust stretchable canvas with an excellent colour gamut and a high resistance to cracking, whilst also boasting superior framing performance.
